Last week, Room 3 used the poem 'The Magic Box' as a basis for their own poetry. Our focus was to choose our language for effect. Here is Lin's poem:
I will put in the box
the most fearsome flames that flicker from the fires of the underworld,
the brightest cloud that shines from the highest heavens,
the finest soil from the centre of the earth.
I will put in the box
a glow of the white pearls that hand on my mother's neck,
a gleam of the diamond ring that embraces my grandmother's finger,
a ray of sunshine from the second sun.
I will put in the box
the sensation of a loving smile,
the whisper of a ghost by my bedside,
the memory of a comforting hand.
I will put in the box
a second universe that waits to be discovered,
a 13th month that waits to be celebrated,
and a Big Ben that ticks backwards.
My box is made of unbreakable wood from the forbidden tree,
with carvings that tell ancient tales,
Its chains of gold ice conceal my secrets ,
in every corner.
I will become queen of my box,
living in a fancy French château,
commanding my minions to do as I wish,
inside my box.
Lin I love the way you have added great alliteration such as 'fearsome flames that flicker from the fires of the underworld.'
ReplyDeleteI also love the way you have added adjectives like unbrakeable wood.
