WALT: work like a scientist.

We are currently wondering what type of rock the gorge is formed from; is it sedimentary, igneous or metamorphic rock. To do this we have examined the rocks that we collected by the Manawatu River at the end of Albert Street. These rocks would have been carried downstream from the gorge and should be of the same type the gorge.

We used a flow chart to try and sort the rocks we had into their type. Here was our first go at sorting:

As we are working as scientists, we then needed to critique our sorting. To help critique our sorting we used Mr MacIntyre who is an expert. We then resorted our rocks. Here were our new results:

This clearly shows us the the gorge is formed from sedimentary rock. To take this further we could try to group the rocks into their types and see what type of sedimentary rock the gorge is made from.
